Robin Rombach is co-founder and CEO of Black Forest Labs, a frontier AI research lab dedicated to advancing generative models for images and videos. Before founding Black Forest Labs, he was a research director at Stability AI and pursued his PhD at LMU Munich. Robin's academic journey began with a Master degree in physics at the University of Heidelberg (2013-2020). His research has centered around making generative models more efficient, contributing to the development of widely adopted models such as VQGAN, Latent Diffusion, Stable Diffusion and Flux. He is a proponent of open-source models.
