Bernt Børnich is the Founder, CEO, and technical visionary behind 1X, where he leads technical and engineering direction, company vision, and the mission to build safe, capable, and affordable general-purpose humanoid robots that elevate human potential. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Robotics and Nano Electronics from the University of Oslo. Bernt began his career developing robust backend software systems for enterprise environments, specializing in big data infrastructure and predictive customer analytics. He later pivoted to embedded systems engineering, contributing to innovative projects spanning consumer electronics and advanced medical devices. A passionate roboticist and inventor, Bernt combines deep technical expertise with a strong user-centered perspective. At 1X, he drives the development of groundbreaking products like NEO—friendly, intelligent humanoid companions designed to handle everyday chores, integrate seamlessly into homes, and help create a more abundant society where people can focus on what truly matters.
